January 11th 2023:

Happy new year one and all. 2023 RNTM now published and applications already being received. Please book early if you intend to attend. We are pushing hard for maximum numbers this year and hope to be able to fill the course.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

September 14th 2022:

All over for 2022 with Jack Lawlor our new Champion Golfer. Sixty entrants competed this year, down on previous. If you have enjoyed the event please spread the word so that we can attract more competitors for next year. If you have any feedback, good or bad, please get in touch.

As always, we continue to look for assistance in running the event. None of us are getting any younger and without fresh faces on the committee, there is a risk that the event will fail to happen in the coming years.

August 29th 2022:

Just two weeks to go. An email has been sent to all participants with the latest news and parish notices. Groupings and tee allocations will be published on the website by Sept 8th at the very latest. Some late changes are inevitable, so please double-check at reception on the day.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

September 21st 2021:

All done for another year. Planning underway for 2022. We will be back at China Fleet on September the 12th 2022. Book your accommodation while you can. All accommodation is fully booked on the Saturday night due to an HMS Penelope reunion. Plenty available from the Sunday.

Congratulations to our winner Steve Titheridge and thanks to all the support staff and you the competitors. See you again soon.

April 29th 2021:

Well it's been an age, but here we are, chomping at the bit. Monday the 13th of September 2021 is the date for your diaries. Book early if you need accommodation. The RNTM is on the streets, bookings are being taken and we are BACK!

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

September 17th 2020:

Typically, the weather for what would have been this year's event weekend was exceptional and nothing like the weather we have endured in the past. A few went down to enjoy some casual golf nonetheless and were well hosted by the China Fleet despite the obvious restrictions.

The course has been provisionally booked for next year's event. Monday the 13th of September 2021 is the date for your diaries. Book early if you need accommodation.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

March 2nd 2020:

RNTM now published and available from the "Documents" page.

Apply early to guarantee your place - and to make our planning that little bit easier!

Please note that it will be a full shotgun start, NOT a four tee start as detailed in the RNTM.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

February 9th 2020:

Happy New Year to you all. I hope you managed to get some golf in, despite the atrocious weather.

Planning is now afoot for RNEO 2020. Details will be published shortly and made available to you via all the usual channels. Please spread the word - we need to guarantee 72 participants this year to ensure that a Shotgun Start remains viable for the China Fleet.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

September 11th 2019:

The requested Feedback Form has now been added to the "Contact Us" page. Please use this if you have any ideas to improve the day, positive/negative feedback or sponsorship leads.

We'd also love to hear from you if you wish to volunteer to become part of the organising team, or can provide a team of people to take it on in toto.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

September 10th 2019:

Another event completed. Congratulations to all our winners, especially our new Champion - Lt. Mark Jones. An incredible performance in challenging conditions to say the least. Lots of great golf seen from many people, despite the conditions and I'm sure that those who struggled still had a good time.

The switch to a Shotgun Start received an incredible thumbs up from everybody that I spoke to on the day. This will be continued into future events, which may allow us to adjust lunch and dinner timings to further smooth the day.

Thank you for all your support and we look forward to welcoming you all again next time out. Keep your eyes peeled for the RNTM/DIN early in 2020.

As discussed at the dinner, we are always looking for volunteers to take on the role of organiser for future events. An excellent pack contains detailed information on managing the event, including numerous potential sponsorship contacts. If you, or a group of you, want to take charge please get in touch as soon as possible. Serving RN personnel preferred for the primary role, but not compulsory.

August 16th 2019:

At the time of writing, China Fleet have only 7 golf buggies and a pair of electric trollies available for hire. If you want/need to hire one of these, please contact the course directly to stake your claim!

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

August 7th 2019:

We now have the requisite 72 players signed up. Any additions will be strictly limited by the numbers of holes available for two groups to start. Get in touch if you want to grab one of the last few places.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

July 29th 2019:

A little late notice, and going outside the details laid down within the RNTM, but this year's event will now be a Shotgun Start. Hopefully this will further reduce playing time and allow us all enough time for a quiet beer (or two) before the Gala Dinner.

The following on-course prizes have also been agreed:

Pro’s Approach -  Hole 14 (AM and PM)

Nearest the Pin (all Par 3’s – AM and PM).

Longest Drive (0-15 handicap) 8th (AM and PM).

Longest Drive (16 handicap and above) 17th (AM and PM).

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

June 15th 2019:

A poster for the event is now available for download from the documents page. If you could forward to potential players, or affix to sports noticeboards around the Fleet, or your golf club, it would be greatly appreciated.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

May 28th 2019:

Sponsorship is rolling in well this year, with a prime sponsor in place and several other companies supporting the event. Things are looking very promising for the prize pool this year.

Take up of the event itself has been steady but unremarkable so far, but we expect a flurry as soon as people's leave and holiday plans are firmed up. Please remember that the participant numbers are strictly limited because of the four tee start. Get in early if you want to guarantee your place.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

February 10th 2019:

We have new organisers in place. In the absence of AE department volunteers coming forward, we have called upon some old hands to take the tiller. This year's event will be in the hands of WO1 Robb Firth (serving member and Overall Organiser), Steve Smith (Treasurer) and John "Taff" Reha (Sponsorship).

You will see from the RNTM that the format has changed slightly, in an attempt to further speedup play. A four-tee start will hopefully get us all round that little bit quicker.

◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊ ◊

September 21st 2018:

The current incumbent having served notice of his intention to stand down as organiser for 2019, the RNEO is looking for volunteers to take the reins for one or more years. A preference has been stated for serving Air Engineers to take up the challenge, but other parties will be considered if necessary. Please contact Mark Williams if you wish to volunteer or require further information.
